The Hallowe'en Party (Oct 2001)

We had a great party in October to celebrate Hallowe'en. Everyone dressed up. We had ghosts and goblins, cats and witches, fairies and even Buffy the Vampire Slayer came along! We did lots of different activities and then ended up trying to eat doughnuts without using our hands. Click on the links below to see what we did.

The Chocolate Game

You will need:

  • 1 dice
  • A hat, scarf and pair of gloves
  • A slab of chocolate
  • A knife and fork
Ghost Spider
This is one of our favourite party games. You pass the dice around from person to person and they each have to throw a six. Once someone has thrown a six they have to put on the hat, scarf and gloves and, using the knife and fork, cut the chocolate into little bits which they can then eat. Whilst this is happening the dice continues to be passed around and thrown. When someone else gets a six (even if the first person has only just started to put the clothes on) the first person must take the hat, scarf and gloves off and the next one puts them on.

All dressed up and I've got chocolate to eat!

Chocolate Bananas

You will need:

  • 1 Banana per person
  • A slab of chocolate
  • Tin foil
  • Saucepan and a pyrex bowl
  • A spoon
Witch
Pumpkins
Spider
Break up the chocolate into small pieces and put them in the pyrex bowl. Pour some water into the saucepan, then balance the pyrex bowl over the water. Boil the water until the chocolate has melted. Remove the bowl and turn off the hob. Place your banana on the tinfoil and, using a spoon, smear the melted chocolate all over the banana. Leave it to cool until all the chocolate is hard.

Apple Bobbing

Apple Bobbing   After we finished the above activities we had a go at apple bobbing. Unfortunately lots of scary faces got washed away during this, but it was great fun. Squirrel even had a go, but she put her head right in the water and came up soaked!

Gobbling Doughnuts

This is my favourite game. Doughnuts are threaded onto a string and we are each given one to eat. We are not allowed to use our hands to steady it and the winner is the last person to still be eating their doughnut without it falling off!
