In folklore, a Brownie was a kindly, invisible, hairy brown creatures somewhat like goblins who lived in farmhouses and other empty buildings in Scotland. While people are asleep, they did odd jobs for them. They are known to be protective creatures and can become attached to a certain place and family. When particularly attached, they will even follow family if they move. If offered payment for their services or if they are treated badly, they disappear, are never to be seen again. |
